Minutes dialogue held between Councilor Tan Hui Chuan, ahli MPS, personal assistant of Adun Rawang, YB Gan Pei Ni and the residents of TRP2 on Thursday, 18/12/08, 8.00pm at No.2 Jln RP11/7 Taman Rawang Perdana 2

The dialogue session was chaired by Councilor Tan Hui Chuan, ahli Majlis Perbandaran Selayang. Adun Rawang, YB Gan Pei Nei.who has initially agreed to attend was unable to make it due to some urgent matter that she had to handle and she was represented by her PA Mr Ng. (YB had later sent her apology by e-mail to the residents of TRP2 for her absence.)
The dialogue started at 8.00pm.
Mr Tan expressed his concern over the ‘flying rocks’ incident last Tuesday, 9/12/08 caused by the rock blasting activity nearby that damages no less than 14 residential houses and that he will do what he could to assist.
He strongly urged that all victims in the incident should lodge a police report individually and compile together all other documents and information pertaining to the problem so that he could brought it up to the next Council meeting.
Resident, Mr Ramadas expressed his concern over the continuity of rock blasting activity after the expiry of the 3 weeks stop work order that will endanger and life and property of the residents…
The problems highlighted by the residents including rock blasting, pollution caused by the blasting as well as a premix plant nearby, the various infrastructure problems including road signage, non functional street lights, very bad road conditions, drains that were never cleaned up etc.
Residents strongly critised over the ignorance of MPS in regards to the problems of TRP2 and were not doing what they should do to serve the people despite complaints were made repeatedly while collecting quit rent & assessment.
Questioned about the responsibility of MPS for giving approval to the contractor to carry out the blasting activity near a residential area, Mr Tan explained that MPS is not the only body empower to allow or disallow such activity to be carried out as it involves many other government agencies.
Resident, Mr Chan Pak Nean suggested,
- that the failure of MPS & State Government to take care of the well being of the people, and being the victims of the rock blasting activity, the quit rent and assessment of Taman Rawang Perdana 2 should be waived ;
- that heavy lorries carrying easily more than 3 tons of granite should not be permitted under the law to travel within a residential quarter which has resulted in road damages as well as endanger the safety of the nearby residents ;
- that part of the revenue collected from the quarry operators should be apportion to the residents of TRP2 to compensate our damages physically and mentally ;
- that the quarry should be moved far away from the residential area and
- that continuous effort must be taken to amend the Ordinance, rules & regulations not to permit rock blasting activity to be carried out near a residential area ;
Mr Tan also suggested that a meeting be held between the representatives of the residents with the YDP and officers of MPS about our problems in a dialog session known as ‘Bermesra dengan rakyat’ held on 1st Wednesday of January, 2009.

He also suggested that the resident committee forward a letter to call for a meet up with the contractor, Angkasa Tegas Sdn Bhd with his presence to assist.
Questioned about the action taken by Adun Rawang, YB Gan Pei Ni, pertaining to the problem of rock blasting at TRP2, YB's PA, Mr Ng Zhung Gia answered that YB will do whatever that she could and the matter has been brought to the State Government requesting for the Quarry Ordinance to be amended to safeguard the well being of the people in the State.
The dialogue adjourned at about 10.00pm.
